Sunny September Wedding at Beautiful Oxmoor Farm

They say good things come to those who wait. That was definitely the case for Kelsey and Will with their Oxmoor Farm wedding! Their wedding made the most of the incredible backdrop with this historic house and gardens. We took some gorgeous portraits, but the best images are of Kelsey and Will being truly present with their people. I’m so glad I got to document this beautiful day!

A Wedding at Historic Oxmoor Farm

Oxmoor Farm is a stunning historic wedding venue less than twenty minutes east of Louisville. The venue can accommodate indoor and outdoor weddings in a grand setting. Eighteenth-century architecture and well-groomed gardens create the sense that you’re in your own world on your wedding day.

Since this wedding venue is a historic home, it offers a variety of spaces for your wedding day.

  • The Library: This room is stunning. The rich colors, sunlight, and vintage decor make it a fun, moody spot for portraits.

  • The Gardens: The gardens include seasonal flowers, a reflecting pool, and gazebo. I like this spot for wedding party photos.

  • The Lawn: Kelsey and Will’s ceremony took place on the lawn with the towering trees in the background.

Oxmoor Farm has a long history in the Louisville area. A family built the original farmhouse in 1791. Since then, there have been multiple additions and the installation of a garden in 1911. Now the organization that runs it holds public events, including educational programs and concerts.

A Long-awaited Wedding Day

Kelsey and Will are one of those couples who had their entire wedding turned upside down by the COVID-19 pandemic. They originally planned on getting married in 2020. Instead, they eloped on that date and moved their big Oxmoor Farm wedding to 2021. That way they could safely celebrate with their family and friends.

Since Kesley and Will had to wait an entire extra year for their wedding, so much excitement and gratitude built up. The fact that everyone could finally celebrate together just made the whole day even more joyful.

Kelsey and Will exchanged vows (again!) on the front lawn of the beautiful Oxmoor Farm. They had a stunning ground arch that added an elegant magic to the spot. They chose a late summer neutral palette. It made the day feel airy but grounded in the season.

At cocktail hour, I snuck Kelsey and Will away for some golden hour portraits. They mostly wanted to spend time with their guests, so we kept the portrait session short. The photos we took have a dreamy golden light. They feel timeless.

The guests at Kelsey and Will’s wedding showed up ready to celebrate. They gave heartfelt toasts. I loved photographing Kelsey and Will’s reactions to the thoughtful, funny words. Afterward, everyone was ready to dance the night away with a live band. You could tell everyone enjoyed every part of the night.

Candid, Nostalgic Wedding Photos for Kelsey and Will

Photographing Kelsey and Will’s wedding at Oxmoor Farm was truly a joy. I loved preserving all the smiles and tears from grandparents and parents, the dances with the flower girls, and the love between Will and Kelsey.

This wedding is exactly the kind of celebration that I love to document. Kelsey and Will had incredible details, but their focus stayed on being in the moment with each other and their guests. Their joyful expressions are totally genuine from the beginning to the end of the day. Looking at these photos now gives me a strong sense of happiness and nostalgia.
