They’re the kind of places where you can take a deep breath and connect with your favorite people in a natural setting. This blog post highlights nine of my favorite garden wedding venues in the Louisville area. Take a look and find the perfect one for you!

9 Lush Garden Wedding Venues in Louisville

1. 3rd Turn Oldham Gardens

3rd Turn Oldham Gardens combines dreamy historic greenhouses with a beer garden-style reception space. Ceremonies take place in an open greenhouse. You can decorate it with lights and floral installations to bring your magic garden vision to life. A simple floral arch also works if you’re looking to keep details minimal.

The reception space is covered. It has beautiful wooden tables and fire pits available. 3rd Turn Oldham Gardens handles all bar and catering services, so you have that much less to coordinate.

The only downside to this venue is that the getting ready space is small. I recommend renting a house or hotel room nearby.

2. Yew Dell Botanical Gardens

Yew Dell Botanical Gardens is a huge space. It has so many options for a unique ceremony and photos. The grounds are seriously enchanting. (There’s even a castle.) Thanks to the covered pavilions, you can have all the beauty of a garden wedding ceremony without risking a rained-out reception.

Besides hosting weddings, Yew Dell Botanical Gardens does cool stuff for the community. They hold kids’ and adults’ workshops on topics ranging from birding and gardening to creating your own botanical dyes.

Location: Crestwood, KY

Capacity: 30-300 guests depending on the location

Average Cost: $8,600 with the Rounsavall Pavilion ($6,300 without the Pavilion)

3. Richwood on the River

Richwood on the River is one of Louisville’s favorite garden wedding venues, and it’s easy to see why. As a bed and breakfast, Richwood on the River can accommodate you and chosen guests for the weekend. You can get ready in one of the elegant rooms, too.

For cocktail hour, host your guests on the brick patio featuring a beautiful fireplace. You get so much space to spread out here! It would be a perfect spot if you want to have lawn games during your reception. In addition to the outdoor spaces, the historic carriage house can host indoor celebrations.

Location: Milton, KY

Capacity: 400 guests

Average Cost: $12,000 during peak season ($10,000 during off season)

4. Progress Park

Progress Park is unique among Louisville’s garden wedding venues because it’s a glamping resort. You can rent Airstream trailers around the lake and stay there for the weekend. Progress Park has wooded areas, lawns, multiple private beaches, and an indoor venue available.

I love that Progress Park gives you a way to be with your friends and family all weekend. You can really play up the “camp” ambiance with your activities and decor. It’s an easy venue to relax and have a lot of fun while you feel like you’re in your own world for the weekend.

Location: Louisville, KY

Capacity: 300 guests (overnight accommodations available for up to 65)

Average Cost: $28,500 for an all-inclusive weekend ($15,000 for a single day)

5. Waterfront Botanical Gardens

The Waterfront Botanical Gardens is the most modern garden wedding venue in Louisville. They have native flowers planted all around the grounds. The nonprofit operating the gardens is constantly expanding the scope of the gardens and community activities offered.

Some of my favorite features of the Waterfront Botanical Gardens include:

  • The water feature where you can hold outdoor ceremonies

  • The indoor education center with its wood-beamed roof and walls of windows

  • Endless places to take creative photos of unposed moments

Location: Louisville, KY

Capacity: 250 guests

Average Cost: $5,000

6. Peterson Dumesnil House

The Peterson Dumesnil House is technically a historic home. I included it on this list of garden wedding venues because of its stunning outdoor space. You can get married on the lawn with the house and sweeping trees in the background.

The big patio is another great feature that helps you keep a lot of your celebration outdoors without added rentals like a tent. Built in 1869, the house is an Italian villa style. It’s definitely unique among the historic homes in the area.

Location: Louisville, KY

Capacity: 300 guests

Average Cost: $3,100

7. Whitehall Mansion Historic House

Whitehall Mansion has multiple gardens, each with its own personality. They include the Arboretum, Specimen Garden, Formal Florentine Garden, and Woodland Fern Garden. Ceremonies typically take place in the Formal Garden. It’s stunning with an iron gate that opens onto a paved courtyard. The beautiful combination of whimsy and elegance make any wedding at Whitehall unforgettable.

8. Oxmoor Farm

Oxmoor Farm is a historic estate with an impressive garden. It was designed in 1911 and has been beautifully maintained ever since. Wedding ceremonies typically take place on the lawn with an old grove of trees in the background.

If you love the idea of a garden wedding venue but want a charming indoor space, too, Oxmoor Farm is perfect. The eighteenth-century house has a stunning library with rich colors and vintage furniture. It’s such a cool place to do portraits and sip drinks at cocktail hour. And if it rains, you’ve still got a unique ceremony space available!

Location: Louisville, KY

Capacity: 120 guests indoors and 500 guests outdoors

Average Cost: $7,300

9. Lexington Arboretum, State Botanical Garden of Kentucky

The Arboretum in Lexington is a really incredible place. You can roam 100 acres of public gardens operated by the University of Kentucky. Colorful flowers and manicured shrubs create an experience full of surprises. Admission is free, so you can stroll the grounds and get a sense of how it might fit your vision for your wedding.

Some of my favorite features of the Arboretum include:

  • Beautiful scenery year round

  • Sculptures that you can incorporate into your photos

  • Whimsical pergolas and bridges

The only major drawback to getting married at this garden wedding venue is that it’s still open to the public during weddings. In my experience, people are pretty respectful, though.

Location: Lexington, KY

Capacity: 100 guests

Average Cost: $530 (You read that right!)
